Agency for Scientific Research and Training (ASRT), in December 2021, conducted a training for faculty staff from Malawi College of Health Sciences (MCHS), which saw 28 faculty staff from the 3 campuses of Malawi College of Health Sciences (MCHS); Lilongwe, Blantyre and Zomba, trained in Research Methods and Publication. The training aimed to introduce participants to different research concepts and tools, data analysis packages, scientific manuscript writing and publication processes. This is in line with one of ASRT’s role to “enhance staff capacity” in the USAID Malawi funded “leveraging local capacity to strengthen health service delivery, in the Human Resource for Health (HRH) project.”
The participants were from different health departments including Nursing and Midwifery, Environmental Health, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedicals, Basic studies, Community health and Radiography. Feedback from participants shows that the training was well received and imparted new knowledge.
